Raw mango curry

It’s that time of the year it’s the Mango season. I love mangoes. There are so many recipes that we can make out of mangoes.
When I went out to buy vegetables, I saw these fresh raw mangoes and instantly wanted to make mango curry out of it. To be honest I haven't tried making it before but my mum used to make it. I knew how it should taste.
Well when I told that I will be making mango curry they were surprised. As they haven't tasted before. After it was done everyone liked it there was nothing remaining. 😊

You will need

  •          ½ kg raw mango
  •          ½ tsp turmeric powder
  •          2- 3 tbsp jaggery
  •          ½ tsp salt
  •          To grind
  •         1 tsp raw rice
  •          2 tbsp coriander seeds
  •         10 red chilies
  •         1 tsp oil
  •          ½ tsp fenugreek seeds
  •         1 tbsp black gram lentils
  •          2 cups grated coconut
  •          Water
  •        For the gravy
  •          2-3 tbsp oil
  •         1 tsp mustard seeds
  •         Pinch of Asafetida
  •          Sprig of curry leaves
  •          ¾ cup coconut milk
  •          ½ onion chopped
  •          Salt to taste

  1.    .    Cut the mangoes into 2-inch-long strips or cubes and add turmeric, salt jaggery and mix well. Keep this aside.
  2.      . Now in a pan roast the coriander seeds till a nice aroma comes through, then roast the red chilies and keep them aside.
  3.        Now add oil in a kadai on medium heat and roast the raw rice, fenugreek seeds and the gram lentils for few seconds till it slightly changes the color.
  4.       Take all the above ingredients along with the grated coconut and grind to a fine paste by adding water and make it thick.
  5.           Now add 2 tbsp of oil add the mustard seeds, curry leaves, onion and asafetida and the raw mangoes and stir well.
  6.      Sauté them for few seconds and add the ground coconut paste and a cup of water.
  7.           Cover with a lid and cook for 5 mins. Then at the end add the coconut milk and cook for another 2-3 minutes in low flame.

Raw mango curry is ready to be served.
